The global rankings for universities were released by Times Higher Education Rankings; a highly reputed higher education ranking authority in the world.
The total number of universities that were ranked was 980, the highest number recorded to date, based on ranking criteria of 13 performance indicators.
Rankings for Pakistani Universities
Top five Pakistani universities made it to the ranking list, they are as follows:
- COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, 601-800th place
- National University of Science and Technology (NUST), 601-800th place
- Quaid-i-Azam University, 601-800th place
- University of Agriculture Faisalabad, 801th place
- Bahauddin Zakariya University, 801th place
Compared with last year’s rankings, Quaid-i-Azam University has fallen in the rankings significantly from 501-600th place to 601-800th place. COMSATS University on the other hand, has joined NUST in the 601-800th place.
Government’s efforts to improve Education in Pakistan
According to the Education Statistics Report 2015-16, shared by the Education Minister, the net enrollment rate in primary education has gone up, though despite the government’s efforts to improve quality of education in Pakistan, the process is slow.
