The S-TIC project involves selecting one premium institute of National importance (in this case Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur for Western region, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal for Central region, and National Institute of Technology, Rourkela for Eastern region) who takes the lead in that particular region to provide opportunities to prospective students specially in the final year of their graduation,  pursuing their post-graduation as well as research scholars to pursue entrepreneurial projects in the space domain. To start with, projects practical in nature under ISRO radar will be shared with these students who could further build on a prototype through industry/university tie ups
