Student visa applications made in India from 1 November 2012 must be accompanied by a valid TB clearance certificate.  Please note that the requirement to undergo pre-entry TB screening is only required for visas of longer than six months. It does not therefore affect anyone coming to the UK on a six month student visitor visa.

The UK Border Agency announced the phased introduction of the TB screening requirement in August 2012 and the start date for students was set after the main recruitment period for UK Higher Education Institutions.

The UK Border Agency will only accept TB screening and certificates from a UK Border Agency-approved clinic in India. Please see the list of clinics in India (under “applying for a UK visa”)] and frequently asked questions.
