The President has recently concluded a cabinet reshuffle which has resulted in changes in several key ministries.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Highways has been separated into two ministries which will have individual ministers responsible for them. However the Minister of Higher Education has also been given authority over Cultural Affairs.
Hon Dr Wijedasa Rajapakshe has been appointed as the Minister of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs. A lawyer by profession, he was previously the Minister of Justice.
Hon Mohan Lal Grero has been re-appointed as the State Minister of Higher Education while Hon. Nandimithra Ekanayake has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs
Hon. Dr. Sarath Amunugama has been appointed as the Minister of Science, Technology and Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training and Hill Country Heritage.
