The education ministry had issued a circular to higher education institutions at the end of September that SPM forecast results could no longer be used for admission into foundation or pre-university programmes. However, Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh had announced on the 8th of October that students are allowed to use the forecast results to enrol into private higher education institutions in January next year, but students can only be formally registered once their actual SPM results are out in March. Idris said after feedback from the public, the ministry would continue to meet with stakeholders before making a final decision on the use of forecast results and promised to come up with an “amicable solution for everyone”.
