A special forum on Vietnam-Japan educational co-operation was held in Tokyo, Japan on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

In the forum, the two governments agreed to boost education cooperation including introducing Japanese language into secondary schools, setting up campuses of Japanese universities in Vietnam and training and research collaboration as part of efforts to upgrade Vietnam’s tertiary education.

There are currently 4,500 Vietnamese students studying in Japan, reported Nhandan newspaper.
