A recent report launched by FECYT (Spanish Federation of Science and Technology) analyses impact of UK/Spain research publications over the last few years.

In period 2005-2014, the number of publications in collaboration were 47.537, with a 71% increase in number when compared to previous 5 years. In terms of quality, it was increased by 86% when compared to previous 5 years analysis. The rate of excellency of such publications reached 27.3%, well above individual publications by either country which are rated 13.4% for Spain and 16.5% for the UK. On a world scale, where average is 1, combined publications rate at 2.89 (or 189% above world average) while individually Spain rate at 1.31 and the UK at 1.57. This report demonstrate the strength and positive impact of UK-Spain scientific research collaboration.
