The Sarawak state Government has been organizing a number of programmes advocating the importance of education and English language. While the Government is gradually improving the education system in the state, UK institutions are encouraged to keep abreast of market potential. The British Council is also planning for a series of engagement activities with influencers (teachers and agents) as well as government agencies at Sarawak. including an upcoming Counsellor Engagement Mission. With our future visits to meet the state Government, the British Council will also keep UK schools updated on any possibility of working together with the Government to set up the schools.

Currently, the UK sector is facing fierce competition with Australia and New Zealand as a study destination among Sarawak students. With the state Government favoring British curriculum and the establishment of 5 international schools, UK sector might expect higher enrolment rates from the state in the future.
