The average tuition of 63 private elementary schools across the nation came out to be 7.2 million won this year, higher than the average of 6.7 million won in college tuition, data from the education offices showed Wednesday.

According to the data submitted to Rep. Ahn Min-seok of Democratic Party (DP), the tuition at 39 schools in Seoul averaged 7.8 million won.

In particular, the tuition surpassed 10 million won at four schools in the capital. Kyonggi Elementary School topped the list with 13.9 million won, followed by Uchon Elementary School with 11.6 million won, Younghoon Elementary School 10.4 million and Maewon Elementary School 10.2 million.

School tuition includes different types of expenses such as admission fees, school meals and various other costs.
There are 20 to 35 students per class in the private elementary schools nationwide. Reports Korea Times
