SPRING Singapore has announced that it will invest S$10 million over three years to benefit private education institutions to improve their capabilities and provision of their education. SPRING Singapore is the Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board for Singapore, run by the Singapore government, and this investment will be delivered through its Education Innovation initiative.

The aim of the Education Innovation initiative is to reach out to 1,000 private education institutions and provide support for around 50 relevant projects.

At the conference, Minister of State for Education and Defence, Lawrence Wong said:

"There will be a limit to the number of international students that can be enrolled, given Singapore's population constraints. Private institutions therefore can no longer base their business model on student volume, but have to move towards a quality-driven strategy, with higher quality and more knowledge-intensive courses".

Also speaking at the conference, the CPE's Director of Industry Development and Student Services, Remy Choo, stated that another CPE initiative involves encouraging PEIs to adopt school management systems to help them manage their schools.
