The Ministry of Education and National Development Reform Commission issued a notice on the postgraduate enrollment plan for 2012. China will enroll 517,200 postgraduates and 67,216 doctoral students this year. Compared with the plan in 2003, this year's enrollment scale for postgraduates rose by 37.9 per cent, and this year's enrollment scale for doctoral students rose by 1.35 times. Some scholars think the expansion in postgraduate enrollment may lead to the depreciation of an academic degree, because some universities' teachers for master's and doctorate programs are weak. Many postgraduates do not improve their learning ability or professional skills. Reports China Youth Daily
