According to an article published in Beijing News, eight employees from Chinese education agent JJL (three of which are senior management) were arrested this morning for crimes related to the ‘sale of official documents and seals’.
As one of the largest overseas education agents in China, JJL is entitled to eight permits for permanent residence in Beijing (known as a Beijing Hukou in China), a quota managed by the local government each year. Instead of issuing Beijing Hukous to their own qualified employees, the vice president of JJL has been accused of colluding with the HR Director of selling these privately for profit. The article on Beijing News quotes the price of a Beijing Hukou as being as high as 720,000 RMB. Reports China Daily.
