The country’s service sector should expand to cover industries that require higher skill levels to make it more inclusive, an economist said on 22 November.
“The service sector has already been a vital contribution to the growth of the Philippines, but there’s still plenty of room to level up. There’s a great scope for the country to level up its business process outsourcing in terms of moving up to higher-level skills to create more jobs,” said Donghyun Park, principal economist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), at the launch of the book “Developing the Service Sector as an Engine of Growth for Asia.”
