The promotion of youth entrepreneurship and financial literacy program shall be inculcated in all levels of education in the Philippines through the RA 10679 or the Youth Entrepreneurship Act. The country's Department of Education (DepED) shall ensure that the K to 12 curriculum shall be supported by programmes on entrepreneurship and financial literacy; wherein at the elementary level, the programmes referred to shall principally focus on the ideal values and skills necessary to become successful entrepreneurs. The programmes will include helping students to understand the importance of making wise financial choices, providing learning sessions in economic education, and teaching how to build personal wealth, among others.
The law aims to open more opportunities for the Filipino youth to be financially literate and help them achieve their future financial aspirations even at an early age. It also provides would-be youth entrepreneurs access to government financing, training, market linkages, and other means of support that will help them run and develop their own business or to pursue a project or study on entrepreneurship.
