According to a report by the Council of Graduate Schools released on 8 April, applications from China for the academic year beginning in the autumn of 2013 were down 5 per cent from the year before, as fewer Chinese students applied for graduate degrees in business, engineering and sciences at US colleges and universities. The fall is a sharp reversal from the average 20 per cent annual growth in applicants from China over the previous three years. Although enrollment has been growing by double digits for seven consecutive years, it will probably drop sharply when the autumn of this year comes around. Reports Chinanews.com on 9 April 2013.
