The Institute of International Education (IIE) recently published a report showing that the number of U.S. students completing a degree abroad is increasing, particularly in the fields of humanities, social sciences, or physical and life sciences.
The report, “New Frontiers: U.S. Students Pursuing Degrees Abroad” is meant to complement the annual Open Doors report, also released by IIE, which focuses predominantly on study abroad.
Included in the report are key facts such as over 46,500 U.S. students pursued their degrees abroad in 2011-12, while 42 per cent of those participants pursue undergraduate, 42 per cent pursue master’s, and 16 per cent pursue doctoral degrees.
