In strengthening technical-vocational education in public schools, 165 tech-voc teachers of the Department of Education (DepEd) have undertaken training with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to become assessors which is expected to respond to the increase in tech-voc enrolment in secondary schools nationwide.

The training will also allow teachers to conduct assessment of graduates of secondary tech-voc schools. Students who pass the assessment will receive a certificate of competency or a National Certification (NC) 1 or 2 depending on skills proficiency. The training is part of enhancing skills and specializations in arts and trade, agriculture and fishery, in DepEd’s collaboration with TESDA, writes Rainier Allan Ronda for The Philippine Star
