10 international schools are expected to be set up across Thailand in 2014 in order to be ready for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and cope with the liberalisation of education services. It is expected that the private sector will apply for the setting up at least 10 international schools across Thailand in 2014, said The Secretary-General of the Office of the Private Education Commission, Mr. Bundit Sriputtangul.

For the past four months, the Office of the Private Education Commission received seven proposals seeking to set up international schools across Thailand. Out of these seven porposals, two are kindergartens which is to be opened in Bangkok. The other five are primary and secondary schools, which are to be set up in many provinces across the country such as in in Chumpon, Udon Thani, Surat Thani, Samut Prakan, and Phitsanulok.

The curriculum of these schools are mostly based on the curriculum in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Singapore. English and thinking skills are the emphasis which will be placed for school children.
