According to the survey, approximately 83% of the Indian students in this age-group own a mobile phone. While not all of them own a smartphone, the demand for smartphones in India is expected to see a growth of 21.5% in 2016 and students in this age group are the primary drivers of the demand.
75% students surveyed during the research owned a desktop/ laptop, which makes the computer the second most popularly owned device for this group. These figures are indicative of the fact that more Indian students are adopting digital channels and platforms for communication. Hence it is imperative for the institutions to be present on digital platforms to engage with the target age-group.
