The State minister for Higher Education has asked schools to start up programmes that equip students with business and practical skills to increase their marketability when they graduate.
Dr John Chrysostom Muyingo said of the 400,000 Ugandans who graduate from the nation’s education institutions annually, only 70,000 find jobs in formal employment sector whereas many others remain on the streets job hunting.
“I want us to look at our teaching curriculum so that the type of products we pass out to the market, at whatever level they get out, be it Senior One or Two, must be among those who are prepared to transform our country from where we are into a middle income status economy,” said Mr Muyingo
