Many Hong Kong universities, including the Chinese University of Hong Kong, will no longer accept China's College English Test Level 6 (CET-6) as a qualification for taking postgraduate courses from the 2015-16 academic year. The CET-6 test is commonly taken by undergraduate students in China and was previously widely accepted by Hong Kong's universities as proof of potential students’ English language ability. In the future, students from Mainland China will need to obtain IELTS or TOEFL qualifications to take postgraduate courses at most Hong Kong universities. However, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the City University of Hong Kong still accept CET-6 qualifications.
