The result of the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS, equivalent to UCAS) was released today. At the Main Round Offer stage, 20,208 out of 44,413 DSE graduates have been given an offer of a place at local full-time post-secondary programme, including publicly-funded degree courses, publicly-funded associate degree courses (offered by City University of Hong Kong), self-financing degree courses (offered by The Open University of Hong Kong) and higher diploma courses (offered by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Education University of Hong Kong). The unconditional offer rate dropped by 3% from 82.2% in 2018 to 79.03% in 2019.

A total of 15,971 DSE candidates have been offered a place in a full time undergraduate course by a publicly-funded university. Around 66.5% of them were successfully accepted by one of their top 3 chosen universities. Local associate degree or higher diploma course providers have made an offer to 3,581 applicants. Meanwhile, there are more than 3,900 applicants have been made an offer at a bachelor degree course by self-finance higher education institutions under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP) scheme. Successful candidates will be eligible to receive between HKD41,000 (non-laboratory-based programme) and HKD71,700 (laboratory-based programme) per academic year.

Among candidates who obtained 5* or above, over 50% of them have chosen Chinese University of Hong Kong as their first choice. Seven (HKDSE) top-scorers (5** in all 7 subjects), along with another 148 students, are going to study at the University’s medical school this year.
