Following the previously shared regulations for distance learning degrees recognition in Qatar published on the SIEM website last October, Qatar SIEM team would like to update you that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar published the list of recognised universities for Distance Learning advance approval for self-funded students.
The list is attached to this article (published in Arabic but the names are listed in English) and includes 156 approved institutions - 47 among them are from the UK.

The selection of approved universities took into account the terms and conditions applied to distance education, the university ranking, the accreditation by relevant professional bodies and other criteria.
The approval of enrolment in such programmes pre-requires that these courses should not require physical presence or full time attendance and should not be technical.

Please take into consideration the following:

1- This list is only for distance learning degrees recognition, there are no recent updates to the scholarship and the self-funded government lists in Qatar
2- Even if your institution is on the approved list, it does not mean that students will automatically get their online degrees recognised, the students wishing to apply for distance education in these universities will be required to obtain advance approval before joining the university from the Certificates Attestation and Equivalency Section which receives applications starting January 2018.
3- This applies only to students who start their course now and apply for an advance approval before starting the course, it does not apply to students who completed their courses.

Qatar SIEM team is organising the annual Study in the UK Exhibition on 11th and 12th March 2018 (More information here: https://education-services.britishcouncil.org/exhibition/study-uk-kuwai…); This could be an opportunity for institutions listed as recognised for distance learning to promote it to students in Qatar.
