International Space Station Design Competition is a contest in which high school students take on the role of aerospace industry engineers and design a city in space that can be home for over 10,000 people. During this competition students demonstrate their creative skills, technical competence, management tactics, knowledge of space environment, and teamwork and presentation techniques to encounter the problems inherent in designing a Space Settlement.

Every year, twelve finalist teams from all around the world are selected to compete in accordance with design scenarios developed by competition organisers. This year the competition took place in the month of August at the prestigious Kennedy Space Centre on Merritt Island that comprised 19 teams with students from 13 countries across the globe.

After being selected as one of the winning teams for the Asian Regional Space Settlement Design Competition in India earlier this year, the group of students from Lahore Grammar School, became the first Pakistani team to win the International Space Station Design Competition held in Florida, U.S.A. The team from Pakistan worked along with students from USA and UK, and emerged winners of the competition.
