Commentary by Audrie Adriana Sanova
Indonesia is predominantly a postgraduate market for UK Universities. Based on LPDP report 2017, UK is ranked number one foreign destination with 895 awardees, 8.97% of the total scholars.
Indonesian students are highly motivated to study abroad, but there are quite a significant number of them that are scholarship dependent. When deciding where to study, important aspects to be considered is the reputation of the host country (84%) and overall cost of study (80%). Hence, affordability is one of the major factors for students when considering study destination.
With LPDP opening two registration phase this year, this will give more opportunity for listed UK universities to recruit scholarships students from Indonesia. Aside from that the students also have opportunity to apply for two intakes 2019 and 2020.
