According to a recently concluded study jointly conducted by Deloitte and ASSOCHAM, the number of internet users in India is expected to reach 600 million by 2020 from 343 current users. The Indian mobile operators have been quite aggressive in providing 3G and 4G services across the country and is the reason for the predicted increase in the number of users.  The Government is also setting up hotspots across cities, thus providing easy internet accessibility for the users.

There are approximately 240 million smartphone users in India. With increased penetration of internet services, the number of subscribers is expected to reach 520 million by 2020. The internet has become the most cost effective medium to reach and engage with target audiences and will continue to emerge as an important marketing channel in India.
