In an effort to improve India’s higher education system, the UGC has instructed the state board at Jammu and Kashmir to revise its State Higher Education Plan. In this continuous effort to keep a check on the quality of the state education system, 11 model degree colleges in the state were sanctioned by the Central ministry under the old UGC scheme.
Additionally the state has also asked for grants under vocationalisation of higher education by proposing a number of vocational specialisations identified under the National Vocational Education Qualification Framework.
North India is one of the country’s prime markets for student mobility to international education institutions.
