With drastic education reforms implemented by Hong Kong’s secondary and tertiary education sectors in recent years, this year’s policy address seeks to ‘avoid drastic changes to give stakeholders some respite’.

The education policy summary highlights:

  • UCAS tariff points awarded for the highest level of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination are higher than those awarded for the highest grade in the General Certificate of Education A Level or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
  • Strengthening support for those with special needs
  • An expected decline in the number of students entering secondary education in the coming years which must be addressed.
