We are delighted to see that the number of Spanish students coming to study in the UK continues to grow according to the latest HESA latest data (2017/18) at an impressive 10% in the last 5 years. A brief analysis of these numbers provides further insights:

* Of the 12825 from Spain, 10955 are Spanish, 900 are British and the rest are from a variety of nationalities.
* Students are spread over a large number of universities throughout different regions with Russell Group recruiting approximately half of the students (5125)
* Law, business & communications (4025 students), Science and Technology (3090 students) Arts and design + Languages (2925 students) and Health (1900) are the most popular subjects
* Fees are mostly privately funded however there are some non-UK grant (39%), various sources/combined (30%), Government Loan (31%)
* 30% students are from private & international schools, the rest of the students are from public schools. Mostly from Madrid, Catalunya and South coast (with largest concentration of private international schools).

As regards changing trends, in comparison with previous years:
* The distribution by subjects remains similar
* The percentage which receives a loan has increased from 26% to 31%
* Undergraduate numbers are increasing while Postgraduate remains stable or with very little growth

UCAS data indicates that applications for 2018/19 and 19/20 continue to grow.
