The first phase of Uniform National Curriculum, which will cover the primary classes from 1 to 5, will be launched from August this year. This was announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Wajiha Akram. While speaking to the national assembly, the parliamentary secretary informed the forum that the government has finalized and are now on the verge of releasing the first phase of national curriculum after taking all federating units on board.
She also informed that model textbooks for the national curriculum have been developed by the government and the provinces have the option of adapting these model books or developing their own on the similar basis. National curriculum for classes 6 to 8 will be released as the second phase in the beginning of the academic year 2022-23. In the third phase, national curriculum for classes 9 to 12 will be introduced in 2023-24.
Uniform National Curriculum is an important step of the government towards providing equal learning opportunities to students throughout the country and facilitate national harmony and cohesion in education. [1]
