Chevening alumnus Atty. Danilo Concepcion has been elected as the 21st president of the University of the Philippines (UP). Concepcion finished Master of Laws at the Queen Mary, University of London in 1986.

The UP Board of Regents, the highest decision-making body of the university, chose him from a pool of six nominees. He is currently the dean of the UP College of Law.

Concepcion will assume office in February 2017, and will be serving as president of UP for six years.

The University of the Philippines is the country's premiere state university, and has been one of the four universities in the country that consistently make it to the annual QS World University Rankings.

In addition to Concepcion, several Chevening alumni have made great strides in the government, academe and the private sector. These include Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chairperson Jose Luis Martin Gascon (University of Cambridge), CHR Commissioner Karen Dumpit (London School of Economics), former CHR Commissioner Ma Victoria Cardona (Queen Mary, University of London), sociologist Nicole Curato (University of Birmingham and University of Manchester), and ABS-CBN executive Kane Choa (London School of Economics), among many others.
