Integrity Idol, a first of its kind reality TV show launched in Nepal by Transparency International to provide public recognition for Nepalese civil servants has a winner. Gyan Mani Nepal, an education officer in the eastern district of Panchthar, won the award for being a driving force behind improving the standard and quality of education in his district. Gyan Mani used unconventional but effective measures such as giving out his mobile number to students to curb one of the biggest issues with public schools in Nepal, poor supervision and teacher absenteeism.

Integrity Idol began with 303 nominations from 33 of the 75 districts. Gyan Mani was chosen from amongst the five finalists which included a health worker, two teachers and two workers devoted to fight maternal and child mortality in remote villages.
