The Chinese economy grew by 7.7 per cent year on year in 2013, according to a report published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on 20 January. Last year, gross domestic product (GDP) reached RMB 56.88 trillion. Fourth-quarter economic growth stood at 7.7 per cent. The added value of the primary industry was RMB5.7 trillion, up four per cent year-on-year. The added value of the secondary industry was RMB24.97 billion, up 7.8 per cent year-on-year.
