The Chinese government has announced that it will no longer require a negative Covid-19 test result from incoming travelers starting Wednesday, August 30, 2023, returning the country's border controls to their pre-Covid situation.

While China had already opened its borders earlier this year, incoming travelers were still required to declare a negative Covid-19 status based on a self-test when entering China. The cancellation of this requirement will make it more convenient for travelers such as international students and UK university representatives to come to China, marking the end of China's pandemic-era restrictions on international travel.
