A newly established Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER) is a premier institution for biodiversity and environmental research at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Key IBER initiatives with international partners include the establishment of 25 ha permanent forest plot in Kuala Belalong in collaboration with the Centre for Tropical Forest Science of Harvard University, as well as the International Consortium of Universities for the Study of Biodiversity and the Environment  (iCUBE).
