Business confidence in Malaysia is dropping and will be worsened in the fourth quarter according to a report released by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) Malaysia. Reasons include the slowdown in China’s economy which in turns affects Malaysia export and fall of the Ringgit versus US Dollars.

Feedback from local contacts reveal that parents now are generally cautious with committing to full term study abroad investment for their children with some opting for TNE arrangement (e.g. 2+1, 1+2) where students only study part of their degree overseas. We believe this is the initial reaction to the currently volatile economy and currency of the country. Agents also largely agreed that studying abroad market would soften next year if the country’s economy does not pick up soon.
