According to World Bank Investment Report Bangladesh witnessed it’s record growth of foreign direct investment in 2015, crossing the $2bn mark. Labour-intensive manufacturing resulted in more inflows to Bangladesh. Increased FDI has attributed  to greater political stability, higher ROI, less risk of investment and reinvestment of earnings.

The growth of FDI was the highest growth among the countries in the South Asia region. This reflects that investors are committed to the Bangladeshi market and are not leaving.

Amongst the South Asian countries Bangladesh is the second largest FDI receiver, whilst India is the fourth largest recipient of FDI in developing Asia and the tenth largest in the world.

According to the report, power, gas and the petroleum sector have received highest FDI in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has showed up very positive economic indicators in recent years, such as GDP Growth Rate of  7.05%, and GDP Per Capita Income of USD 1466 (FY 2015 -16).
