In recent years, Bangladesh has registered faster growth in the economy, which has resulted in it becoming one of Asia’s most remarkable success stories, Kaushik Basu, former Chief Economist of the World Bank, Professor of Economics at Cornell University and Non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution explains in his article.

As per Basu, Bangladesh’s economic transformation was driven majorly by social changes, which started with women’s empowerment.

Several NGOs are working actively to educate girls and giving women an empowered voice. The Bangladesh government is also supporting grassroots initiatives in economic inclusion.

The industrial development, mainly in the garments industry, is contributing in the economic development of the country.

We are hopeful, this positive turn in Bangladesh’s economy will translate to it’s higher education sector as well. While the government continues to develop initiatives and efforts to develop this sector, demand continues to overwhelm supply when it comes to higher education opportunities.

UK institutions are encouraged to promote their courses and scholarships to students in Bangladesh.
