In April 2015 the Australian government released for consultation a Draft National Strategy for International Education. The draft strategy includes six goals relating to the below topics, falling under three pillars:

Pillar 1 – Getting the fundamentals right

  • Education system quality

Pillar 2 – Reaching out to the world

  • Education and research partnerships
  • International outlook
  • Attracting students and researchers

      Pillar 3 – Staying competitive

  • International student experience
  • Opportunities to grow

The strategy will be finalised and implemented in close consultation with the international education and wider communities, including education providers, businesses, students, governments and community groups. It is intended that the final strategy will be released in the second half of 2015.
