The Australian government is granting the Philippines Php8.4 billion for a national program to address basic education issues and support the implementation of the K to 12 program. The grant, under the Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) programme, will focus on Regions 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and National Capital Region. Funds will go to the construction of educational facilities, to teacher training, and to the development of teaching and learning materials. The Philippine government will allot a counterpart fund in kind worth P1 billion. Reports Business World Online
