According to a new report from the Lumina Foundation and Gallup, Americans doubt the quality and affordability of higher education, despite the fact that an overwhelming majority view higher education as important for job attainment and financial security.

The report focuses on American perceptions of several key issues in higher education such as degree attainment, cost, quality, program design and innovation. Findings were based on interviews with over 1,000 respondents over the age of 18.

One of the biggest findings from the report highlighted the fact that many Americans want innovative new approaches to degree attainment that would help cut costs and improve quality.
