Under the recently announced 2016 budget, Transforming Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is one of the strands highlighted under Empowering Human Capital. The government is targeting to ensure that 60 per cent of the 1.5 million new jobs to be created by 2020 would comprise workers with TVET skills. RM4.8 billion is allocated to improve Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in 545 institutions, which will help polytechnics and community colleges produce a more skilled workforce.
