India has been ranked third on the latest list of Times Higher Education BRICS and Emerging Economies Rankings. 16 institutions from India have made it to the list of 200 institutions from the BRICS nations. China ranks first with 39 institutions followed by Taiwan that has 24 institutions.
Ranked 16th, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore is the highest ranked amongst Indian institutions featured in the list. Jadavpur University is the first of the non-IITs and IISC on the list ranked at 80. Indian institutions are certainly progressing towards a more global reputation in academic excellence by providing students with the excellent infrastructure and exposure. A lot of them have collaborated with overseas institutions while some are looking for collaborations that will help their students to get international exposure. It is also encouraging to see Indian institutions being increasingly featured in global rankings and performing to a standard befitting its internationalising strategy.
