What’s driving growth in Qatar and Kuwait? A focus on student recruitment and partnerships

WHAT’S DRIVING GROWTH IN QATAR AND KUWAIT?
Over the last year Kuwait and Qatar were among the ten largest markets globally in both growth rate and total growth for sponsored UK study visas. On 4 June 2015 British Council colleagues from Kuwait and Qatar will hold briefing sessions in the UK to examine the factors driving this growth, focus on the scholarship programmes and provide an outlook for student recruitment in the short and medium-term.

SESSION 1: STUDENT RECRUITMENT IN QATAR – GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY
The number of Qatari students studying in the UK has grown by a huge 71% across all levels since 2010. Rawan Khir, from the British Council Qatar, will discuss this growth, identifying the drivers for this increase and analysing the potential for future growth in the different segments of the market. There will be an overview of the different scholarship programmes available in Qatar, and a representative from the Supreme Education Council’s Higher Education Institute will discuss the Qatari Government scholarship programme, including recent changes to the eligibility criteria for both students and institutions.

SESSION 2: KUWAIT – STUDENT RECRUITMENT AND PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Kuwait has also seen significant growth in student numbers with an increase of 33% since 2010. Imran Yousaf from the British Council Kuwait will present an analysis of the market and opportunities which are driving growth in Kuwait, and will outline effective marketing strategies. In addition, Rola Al Omer (Head of Accreditation) from National Bureau of Accreditation and Quality in Kuwait (NBAQ), and representatives from the Kuwait Cultural Office in London (KCO), will explain the process of how an institution can be added to the list of accredited UK institutions, recent developments and various scholarship schemes respectively.
