Like most countries across the globe, Pakistan is currently under lockdown with a suspension on in-person classes and examinations till June 2020. Educational institutions have announced summer holidays and to date, there it is possible that schools and colleges will be closed after that as well.  

This uncertainty has made it difficult to comprehend how students and different local stakeholders of education are feeling towards studying abroad: Are students still likely to pursue studying abroad once things normalise? What expectations do students, education agents and school counsellors have from UK HEIs? Understandably, students are anxious about their immediate plans for studying abroad and it is important to maintain engagement and communication channels open with them during these difficult times.

The British Council International Education Services team in Pakistan will take this opportunity to see how we can support UK HEIs in their engagement and recruitment efforts and would also like to hear what steps they have taken to respond to international student recruitment post Covid-19. The webinar will also have short updates from British Council higher education teams in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka

During this webinar, organised in partnership with BUILA, the following themes will be covered for Pakistan along with short updates from Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka:

• Current local market sentiment
• Questions and concerns raised by students, education agents and school counsellors in the region
• Recommendations in terms of content and tonality of UK university communication in the region
