We are hiring an Expert in Teaching Standards and Skills Consultant!

British Council strives to deliver excellence in every classroom, across its global network of teaching centres. Our aim is to help students and their sponsors and parents achieve their English language learning and life goals. To ensure this high quality experience for our students, our teaching centres adhere to a global set of teaching standards which are used throughout the teacher recruitment process, for classroom observations, within structured performance management, for learning and development and as a measure of the quality of teaching in the classroom.  The standards include teacher skills, behaviours, specialist skills and professional practices.

As part of the Teaching Excellence Project, a British Council team is now focused on revising and updating the current standards and skills for teachers to produce a clear framework of teaching excellence levels with a robust measurement approach including classroom quality, classroom experience and alignment of the standards with internal and external frameworks.

The process is designed to ensure the customer is at the heart of everything that we do, helping them achieve their goals by ensuring British Council teachers have the ability to perceive and respond to student needs and goals and have the appropriate skills and professional practices to deliver in the classroom.
