British Council India is organising a UG mission  across schools in Chandigarh and Noida for students interested in studying in the UK at an Undergraduate level. 

This exclusive exhibition will allow participating UK institutions to meet students from key schools in Chandigarh and Noida along with students of other local schools who will  attend the exhibition at the host institute. This provides UK institutions the opportunity to recruit students to their UG courses as well as to extend their brand presence and create awareness across a larger student population through a single location in each city. 

This is an excellent opportunity for UK institutions, visiting India from 7-13 February 2015 for the Education UK exhibitions, to make the most of their time in the country by exploring recruitment prospects at some of northern India’s prime undergraduate markets.

The chosen cities and schools have shown keen interest from students in pursuing UK education and welcome UK institutions to interact and counsel students on opportunities of higher studies in the UK. NCR (National Capital Region) has over 30 International schools while Chandigarh boasts of 15 International schools. 

Earlier visits organised by the British Council to schools in Noida and Chandigarh have received very positive feedback. The British Council schools mission in NCR organised in August 2014 hosted a delegation from seven UK institutions where more than thousand students were met over a two days.  In May 2014, British Council had organised an exhibition for the education agents giving them an opportunity to counsel students. The exhibition was extremely successful and was visited by over 400 students.

Event details and format:

2 February 2015: Greater Noida : Host school - DPS (Delhi Public School)

3 February 2015: Noida: Host school -  Apeejay School

4 February 2015: travel day

5 February 2015: Chandigarh: Host school - Gurukul Global School

The host schools in each city will be hosting this exhibition in their premises extending this opportunity to other schools in the city like Sapphire International, Manav Rachna International, Presidium, GD Goenka, Strawberry World School and more. The list of other local schools that shall be present on the day in each city will be shared with the participating UK institutions once confirmation of minimum participants is received.

Important Information:

1) Cost: a participating fee of £600+VAT per UK institution will be charged

2) Travel to local institutions within the city will be covered by the British Council

3) Participating delegates to fund their own international/domestic air travel, accommodation and related expenses.  We shall recommend hotels for accommodation to participating delegates directly

4) This mission is open only to UK Institutions and selection will be on first-come, first-served basis. Agents will not be allowed to participate on behalf of the institution

5) The mission will be open to a minimum of 6 UK institutions. Only one delegate per institution will be allowed to participate

City profiles: why have these cities been chosen for the UG mission

NCR boasts of world class schools. The last schools mission in NCR  had delegates from 7 universities visit Amity International School, Nehru World School, Sanskriti School, Scottish High International and KR Manglam School.  These schools have an international outlook in their educational programmes and encourage international collaboration and exposure amongst their students.

NCR has to its credit some of the premier institutions in India like Indian Institute Of Technology, Delhi Technical University and Jamia Milia Islamia to name a few. There are more than 15 private universities in NCR including the campuses of Sharda University, Amity University and ITM University.

NCR generated GDP of $128.9 billion in 2011-12, which was 7.5 percent of Indian GDP.

In July 2013, NCR was expanded to include some more districts of states , Bhiwani, and Mahendragarh in Haryana, as well as Bharatpur in the state of Rajasthan. This brought the number of districts in NCR to 19, with the total NCR area increasing 34% to 45,887 km

The city of Chandigarh was the first planned city in India post-independence in 1947 and was known internationally for its architecture and urban design.

Chandigarh has been rated as the “Wealthiest Town” of India.  The RBI ranked Chandigarh as the twelfth largest deposit centre and tenth largest credit centre nationwide as of June 2012.

The schools in Chandigarh are well built and world class when it comes to infrastructure. The schools of Chandigarh are affiliated to various curriculum bodies and include model schools that are mainly established by the government. There is a long list of Chandigarh schools renowned for their well-developed infrastructure, high quality education and excellent teaching staff.
