UK Institutions requested to inform their agents: Education UK Certificate for Agents 2016 (Global Agents Training) launching in Bangladesh

The primary objective of this training is to increase the number, effectiveness and most importantly, quality of agents working on behalf of UK schools, colleges, language centres and universities and to build agent capacity and professionalism in an industry that plays a key role in the multi-billion dollar worldwide international student recruitment market.

According to the latest Student Insight Survey, 34% of 1462 respondents use agents to get information on studying in the UK. Amongst the respondents 17% chose UK, 6% chose USA, 4% chose Australia and 4% chose Canada as their first choice of overseas study destination.

A large number of students contact local agents to get information, advice and support in selecting an international destination for higher studies. It is thus important to build a quality cohort of agents in country who can guide students about studying in the UK.

The agents highly value the engagement with British Council and find it useful in gaining credibility from students and parents which is extremely important in the Bangladesh market.

Benefits of this training

Studying the course is beneficial in several ways. The certificate* is recognised by UK institutions, and it demonstrates to students and parents that the agents has gained knowledge in the areas related to UK education. Furthermore, it will enable agents to access support more easily from the British Council globally and in country. A certificate is awarded to the candidate undertaking the course, and NOT the agency with which the candidate works.

Global Trained Agent List (GAL)

The Global Trained Agents List (GAL), will publicly host details of all agents who have been successful in the British Council agent training programmes over the last 2 years, subject to the agents' consent.
