UK in City-Goa 2012 (India)

British Council is organising an exploratory mission to Goa for the very first time. Through this mission we aim to provide an opportunity and platform to UK institutions to promote UK as a study destination.  During the mission UK Institutions will not only get a chance to interact with potential students who are interested in studying overseas but also network with faculty members exploring possible collaborative arrangements.

More about Goa:

Goa is Indian richest state with a GDP per capita two and a half times that of the country as a whole. Tourism is Goa's primary industry with 12 per cent of all foreign tourist arrivals in India. Mining and shipping forming other important industries within the state. With regards to higher education, there are both government funded and private colleges specializing in Engineering, Arts, Law, Science, commerce, medicine and pharmacy. Goa is also well known in India for courses in marine engineering, fisheries & hotel management and is equipped with some prestigious centres like the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean research (NCAOR)

Details of Indian institutes:

The following institutes’ visits are being planned:

  • Goa College of Engineering
  • Dempo college of Arts Science & Commerce
  • St. Xavier’s College of Arts Science & Commerce
  • Salgaoncar college of Law
  • Chowgules’ College of Arts Science & Commerce
  • MES College of Arts Science & Commerce

Importance:

  • This mission is open only to UK institutions and selection will be on first-come-first-serve basis. Agents will not be allowed to participate.
  • The event will be open to a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 institutions for participation. Only one delegate per institution will be allowed to participate.

Costs:

  • UK representatives to fund their own air travel, accommodation and related expenses
  • Local travel within the city for institution visits shall be covered by the British Council
  • A participation fee of £700 per institution will be charged. Institution to confirm whether the invoicing will be preferred in INR or GBP
