Strong economic trends show an increasing demand for international education for Indian students. This is evident in the increasing number of international and private schools in India which encourage English language study as well as international and exchange programmes.
The UK has typically been a popular destination for its high quality education and career prospects and is the second largest student source country of total students to the UK.

The Education UK India exhibitions will travel to five cities across India from 15 to 21 November 2014. In our effort to maximise your visit time to India we are developing marketing events in certain potential cities which are not covered as a part of the exhibition.
We present to you a schools mission across north India where visits to local schools in Chandigarh, Gurgaon and Noida will take place during a three day period and will give you the opportunity to meet potential students at the UG level.
The schools mission has always garnered high interest in promoting higher education in the UK as institutions can boost student recruitment for their UG courses through a direct format.
The Schools mission will typically include visits to six to seven leading schools across Chandigarh, Gurgaon and Noida from 24 to 26 November 2014.
The mission has been designed to benefit UK universities with student recruitment. During the mission delegates will get a chance to deliver presentations on their institution to the students, followed by a face to face interaction in a table and chair mini fair format to further introduce their institution and courses to the students. Additionally, the missions will entail a meeting with key faculty members at each school.

About the cities and market characteristics:

Chandigarh:
Chandigarh is a city and a union territory in the northern part of India that serves as the capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana . As a union territory, the city is ruled directly by the Union Government of India and is not part of either state. The city of Chandigarh was the first planned city in India post-independence in 1947 and was known internationally for its architecture and urban design.
There are numerous education institutions in Chandigarh. These include privately and publicly operated schools and colleges as well as the Panjab University. According to Chandigarh administration's department of education, there are a total of 107 government schools in Chandigarh.
The British Council has conducted several events in the city including a schools mission, an agents’ exhibition and an Education UK exhibition.
The most recent event held in the city was an agents’ exhibition in the month of May where more than 500 potential students attended a half day exhibition.

Gurgaon:
Gurgaon is a city in India located in the state of Haryana. The city is the administrative headquarter of the Gurgaon district of Haryana. The city is a leading financial and industrial centre.
The city's public school system is managed by the government of Haryana and is administered by Haryana Board of School Education. The city also has a large number of private schools, where education quality is considered better than the government schools

Noida:
Noida is part of the National Capital Region of India. The city was created under the UP Industrial Area Development Act. The city has the highest per capita income in the whole National Capital Region.
Noida is a major hub for multinational firms outsourcing IT services and industry and has quickly emerged as a hub for automobile ancillary units.

Important notice:
1. This mission is open only to UK Institutions and selection will be on first-come-first-served basis. Agents will not be allowed to participate.
2. The event will take place if a minimum of 4 UK institutions agree to participate. Only one delegate per institution will be allowed to participate.
3. Delegates will need to fund their own international/ domestic air or train travel, accommodation and related expenses.
4. Local travel within each city will be covered by the British Council.
